Salmon Spawning Field Trip

Come to the Open House at Besadny to watch the salmon spawning and fisheries technicians collecting eggs. Young salmon and trout can not survive in warm springs, so eggs are collected, hatched, and young raised in the hatchery. They are released into streams when they are about 6" long.

Carl Scholz, NEW Audubon board member, will be present at 10 AM to talk with members who want more information.

Besadny Anadromous Fisheries Facility, Kewaunee

Eagle Advocacy

Tuesday, October 16  7:00 PM. -- Eagle Advocacy Training. For Eagle Advocacy volunteers only, special training session in Appleton to include DNR eagle specialists explaining eagle behavior and changes in the legal protection of eagles.  Randi Segal will display and talk about the 7 1/2 year-old eagle Aurora.

Berry Lake

Volunteers from Berry Lake, Underhill and Northeastern Wisconsin removed large amounts of the "pioneer" EWM infestation at Berry Lake this summer.  Chemical treatment of the remaining EWM is scheduled for Tuesday, October 16 with a "rain date" of October 17.  Volunteers are needed at Berry Lake the weekend prior to to treatment to locate and mark EWM and again on the day of the treatment to do the same.
